A crown is a permanent covering that fits over an original tooth that is either decayed, damaged or cracked. Crowns are made of a variety of different materials, such as porcelain, gold, acrylic, or resin, or a combination of these materials. Our office provides porcelain (ceramic) crowns. When performed by a trained and experienced dentist like Dr. Keith, crowns can achieve a near perfect cosmetic result.
What is the process for receiving a crown?
At your first appointment, Dr. Keith will re-sculpt the decayed or damaged tooth to provide an ideal fit for the crown. Then an impression will be made so that a custom crown can be created. At the end of your visit, you’ll be fitted with a temporary crown.
At your next visit, Dr. Keith will fit the permanent crown onto your tooth. After ensuring that the crown has the proper look and fit, Dr. Keith will cement the crown into place. Given proper care, crowns can last a lifetime.
